FAQ

Skating

What is the difference between a skateboard and a longboard?

Skateboards, sometimes referred to as shortboards, generally measure 24” to 33”. Meanwhile, longboards have a typical measurement of 34” to 50”. Both boards have different riding styles. Longboards are generally for cruising and carving, while skateboards are generally for kicks, jumps, and tricks. Because of this, choosing which type of board to buy will ultimately come down to the rider’s preference.

Do your boards come 100% assembled?

Yes. We do recommend that you give your board a few tweaks before riding it. This way, it will work according to your preferences.

Why does my board wobble when I go faster?

Why does my board wobble when I go faster?

The “speed wobbles” that you experience may be a result of having soft bushings, a loose back truck, or your trucks becoming more responsive to each movement that you make onboard.

If you are an inexperienced or a beginner rider, it might be dangerous to ride your board this way since you can easily lose control and be thrown off the board. Hence, we suggest that you become familiar with all the components of your board first before you ride in order to prevent injuries or damage. Start riding on flat, paved roads instead of directly riding downhill.

My board keeps squeaking when I turn. How do I fix it?

You are hearing the noise made by your pivot cup. To fix this, simply take the hanger off the baseplate and spread some wax or soap shavings around the cup.

What’s the difference between traditional trucks and reverse kingpin trucks?

When adjusted correctly, traditional trucks allow you to turn your board efficiently. On the other hand, reverse kingpin trucks are typically used by riders who prefer carving and more responsive turns.

What kind of trucks should I buy?

That depends on the board that you will use, as well as on what you intend to use them for.

Should I buy bigger wheels or smaller wheels for my longboard?

That depends on your preferred riding style. While larger wheels accelerate more slowly, they roll more easily on bumps and cracks when ridden at a higher top speed. On the other hand, smaller wheels accelerate faster, but roll at a slower top speed.

Can better bearings make me go faster?

Not really. They can keep you rolling for a longer period, though. If you want a board that can go at top speeds, you will have to look at the wheels. Wheels that measure about 80mm+ accelerate slowly but run at a high top speed. On the other hand, smaller wheels (usually 51mm-66mm) accelerate quickly but run at a low top speed.

What does “wheel hardness” mean?

This is basically the rating that a pair of wheels has on the durometer scale. Wheels that have a durometer rating of 75A-87A provide more grip and much smoother rides. Meanwhile, wheels with a rating of 96A+ are faster, but will not grip as much.

How can I keep my board in a pristine condition?

Do not ride your board through rain, through puddles, or in the sand. Make sure to have your bushings replaced around every 6 months, too, since old bushings tend to flatten and stiffen after some time.
